Samantha Walravens is an award-winning journalist and author of two books, the New York Times-acclaimed TORN: True Stories of Kids, Career & the Conflict of Modern Motherhood (2011), and Geek Girl Rising: Inside the Sisterhood Shaking Up Tech (2017). She is a columnist for Forbes magazine and has published on The Huffington Post, Elle, and ModernMom. Samantha is an Adjunct Professor at Lehigh University’s PC Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, where she teaches the popular classes, “Women in Tech & Innovation” and “Disruptive Engineers.”
Samantha speaks to audiences nationwide on topics including women & work, work-life balance, and diversity & inclusion. She’s given talks, workshops and keynotes at companies including Facebook, Google, Visa and Goldman Sachs; universities including Princeton and UC Berkeley, and nonprofits including the Watermark Conference, Women of the Channel, and the Society of Women Engineers. She’s been a guest on radio and TV shows including The Today Show, Good Morning America, Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance and NPR.
Samantha is a member of Pipeline Angels, an angel network that invests in female-led companies, and serves on the Alumni Schools Committee for Princeton University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She has a Masters in English Literature and Women’s Studies from the University of Virginia. She lives in Marin County, California with her husband and four children.
